Best North America “Beaches” without Oceans

Cheap vacation packages and discount hotel rooms can still be found at top American beach destinations that lack oceans.

Lake Powell is located in the red rock canyons of Utah. Kayaking and hiking are popular activities for the athletic types whereas there are many houseboats available for those preferring to just relax. This lake offers more shoreline that the entire West Coast.

Lake Travis is an 18 acre lake close to Austin Texas with over 270 miles of shoreline. Fishing, water sports, parasailing and diving are all popular activities. Lake Travis is home to Hippie Hollow Park where clothing is optional.

World Waterpark in Alberta Canada is the worlds largest indoor park. It is part of the West Edmonton Mall and sports five acres of water slides, tub slides and the worlds biggest indoor wave pool.

Sleeping Bear Dunes is located on the eastern shoreline of Lake Michigan. Earlier this year the park was recognized at The Most Beautiful Place in America by Good Morning America. Activities including hunting, fishing, hiking, canoeing, skiing, and snowboarding are available. The park is home to the worlds biggest moving sand dune.

Lake Havasu in Arizona is a family friendly vacation destination with beaches and water sports that appeal to children and casinos and off-roading which keeps the older kids occupied.
