Money Concerns Stress Vacationers

Vacationers try to make their trips affordable through the purchase of cheap airplane tickets or cheap vacation packages. The three things that contribute the greatest friction on vacation are money, sightseeing and food, according to a recent survey commissioned by SpringHill Suites by Marriott.

Of the 1,000 U.S. travelers surveyed, 26 percent reported that they argue about how much money to spend when they are on vacation, while 22 percent disagree about what to do while traveling, and 9 percent are at odds as to where to eat while on vacation.

Taking a vacation this year will be vital to their mental health, according to 75 percent of the respondents. The reasons why ranged from 44 percent citing de-stressing, 37 percent hoping that a vacation will improve their spirits, and 8 percent hoping that a vacation will help repair their relationship.

Despite the intention to relax, financial concerns remain a problem while vacationing. 64 percent of the women and 41 percent of the men acknowledge feeling guilty about spending money while on vacation.

Traveling with children often adds to the stress. Parents admit that they often respond to kids who act out on vacation by snapping at them, ignoring them, or taking deep breaths.

Respondents said that the best way to relieve stress after a conflict while on vacation is to take a good nap or enjoy a long nights sleep. www.cheapfares.com
